Three of these somber works arranged by Douglas B. Moore are slow and in a minor key: “Herzliebster Jesu”, “ O wie selig seid ihr doch, ihr Frommen”, and “O Traurigkeit, o Herzleid.”
Cello 1 is in treble clef and difficult, cello 2 is occasionally in tenor clef and intermediate, while lower 2 parts are easy to intermediate in the bass clef.
A fourth prelude, “Es ist ein Ros’ ensprungen”, is more spritely and in a major key.
